Bill, was there ever a reason given on why Morin missed the first game of the second round?

I think it's very important that the Flyers identify B Schenn's position, and leave him there. Constantly changing from center, to LW, to RW, can't be good for a player trying to develop. A large part of it is the Flyers not having the best mix of players, but they have to figure that out.

If Berube is removed as Head Coach, is there any chance he stays with the organization in a lesser capacity (ie: going back to assistant coach)? Does that happen often?

He seems like he might be a lot more effective if given a specialty to focus on. Team defense and PK come to mind. I'm not sure what kind of message it would send to him, or the team, but I think that he could still be a valuable asset to the coaching staff.

This... I really dislike the way they've handled him overall. Granted, he hasn't shown much progression from his personal development either, but them constantly moving him all over the place isn't helping things. Stop trying to wedge him in somewhere random and figure out where he belongs, and work on developing him there.

If they would pick a spot for him, that would be great.

I also wouldn't be opposed to letting another team deal with that issue, should the right trade come about.

I know it's a small sample but I agree with Bill.

He has looked better playing with Couturier and even more so on the RW. I would like to see that as a start. Maybe Read moves to the 3rd line to still have good speed and two way play and they can get a playmaker somehow on the LW with Couturier and Schenn. I am ok right now with Rafll playing with Giroux and Voracek. It's kind of like Anaheim. Perry and Getzlaf play together and the other winger is a mix of Maroon, Beleksy or whoever else they try.

Harry Kalas and Gene Hart were the voices of my childhood. I miss them both.

The problem is figuring out a 3rd line for the top 9:

I didn't know they had sports back in the time before Noah.

I kid, I kid.

Berube explained that, in his view, a team still has to be able to defend. While puck possession is a big focus in today's game, there is still a need for defensive specialists. The coach said that he thinks Grossmann is player for whom analytics are not an especially accurate measure.

Half the SAT/Corsi equation is attempts denied... yes, it's unreasonable to expect #8 to push play forward... but what's up with him giving up the most shot attempts per 60 only after MDZ? Grossmann's usage wasn't particularly tough...

Whatever his innate defensively gifts are, they didn't seem to lend themselves toward much benefit to the team this past season.

Well, Rinaldo's clearly a 3rd liner now, so he's the LW. And we'll just make Couturier double shift there, since he's clearly never going to be anything more than a 20-point shutdown center who's a bust.

I got a 1200 for my SAT score before they changed the format. I haven't taken my Corsi test yet, though.

I actually think one of Schenn, Simmonds or Read are moved.

I know not popular but I really think one might be moved.

If Berube is out, Ted Nolan would be an interesting candidate.

I don't get the narrative in the wider media that Berube has done a good job this year. They finished 24th, and Hextall has said other GMs have asked him how this squad of players missed the playoffs.

Yes, there were issues with the roster, but enough that they should have been expected to finish bottom five and ending up two spots higher means Berube did a good job? That's (frank)ing nonsense.

Read-coots-schenn would be an ideal third line. Simmonds on the second line and two huge question marks. We need a 2nd line

I acutally don't think he starts the season in the NHL.

I think he will be in AHL and maybe a bottom 6 call up candidate.

Laughton-Simmonds looked decent together this season, and Laughton will have learned a lot from his first year of AHL/NHL hockey. I've got no problem penciling them in on the 3rd line next season.
